1) How much do your custom tapestries cost?

2) What material are the tapestries made out of?
Typically they are about 95% cotton & 5% polyester. No wool options are available.
3) Are the tapestries lined?
Yes. Unless you request otherwise each tapestry is lined and finished with a rod pocket at the top for hanging. The lining is typically black or tan. Our craftsmen will choose the best color match for your image, unless you specifically request one.
4) Can any size tapestry be woven?
The widest loom is 80 inches (200 cm). There is no constraint on the length. For instance, the size of 80” x 300” can be made, with the image being vertical or horizontal.
5) Where are they made?
North Carolina, USA.
6) Are they hand made?
No. They are machine woven on jacquard looms. Nonetheless, skilled people are involved each step along the way.

7) Are the images screen printed onto the fabric?
No. All images are woven into the tapestries. We have a few dye sublimation (ink) options available on poly-suede upon request.
8) How long does the weaving process take?
Typically anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. If you have a deadline let us know.
9) What file type should the image be?
Preferably JPEG, however we can work with (and convert if necessary) nearly any file type.
10) What size should the image file be?
Nearly any high resolution image can be woven. For instance, pictures taken with modern smart phones can easily be woven. If a graphic artist is creating the image, it need not be an overly large file. The size and resolution requirements for weaving are actually lower than for ink printing. While ink printing is typically done at 300 dpi (dots per inch), by contrast, the loom only weaves about 30 yarns per inch. Thus, in most cases, a minimum pixel size of 30 pixels per inch is sufficient. (i.e. If you want a 50” x 80” tapestry, the pixel size of 1500 x 2400 is sufficient.) If you are not sure if your image can be woven, just email it to us and we will let you know!
11) Can any image be woven?
It depends. If there is a copyright on the image, then a waiver must be signed. Older artwork, like Van Gogh’s, are typically now Public Domain and thus free of copyright. If you are unsure, just ask us!
12) How exact are the colors, details and size of the finished product?
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. You will thus find thousands of "words" of explanation in our Before & After Gallery. Please take a few minutes to peruse that gallery. As you do, note how colors and details translate. You will find that vibrant colors may not weave as vibrantly. Also, some colors from the supplied image may not weave into the exact same colors. Additionally, very small details may not weave well, such as small text. Finally, the actual finished size of your tapestry may vary by up to a few inches in width and/or height. These aspects are simply the nature of the unique and special process of weaving. It is best to keep an open mind as to what the finished product will look like and be excited about the translation of your image into a woven tapestry. The word "translation" here is key. To illustrate, imagine a translator is translating a paragraph. In doing so, he comes across several words in the first language that do not exist in the second language. Thus he uses similar (but different) words that best convey the same meaning. Similarly, your image will likely have some colors that the loom does not have. In each such case, the computer based jacquard loom will automatically choose the closest colored thread (or group of threads) to weave that section of your image. If any of this overly concerns you, we recommend that you either order a sample first (see question 14), or perhaps not order at all.
13) Are there any tips or recommendations when creating an image for weaving?
Here are a few tips: Use contrasting colors, especially for colors/sections that will be side-by-side. Do not use gradient (or slowing transitioning) colors. Do not use overly vivid colors (see question 12). If there will be text, do not use thin or small fonts. Do not use copyrighted material unless a waiver can be signed.
14) Can a sample be ordered?
Yes. We offer small sample pieces of our tapestries here. If you would like a sample of your image, we offer custom samples here. What you pay for a sample of your image, or a portion of that price, may be credited back in the event you place your full order, depending on the full order total. If you order a sample of your image, we recommend choosing a portion (to scale) of your image to be woven, rather than weaving your full image as a miniature version, as this will not be a true representation of a full size piece.
15) Can you handle large commercial orders?
Yes. Hundreds of tapestries can be woven in a matter of weeks. We work with hotels, restaurants, interior designers and more.
16) Do you offer a fire rating?
No. If this is required (i.e. for a hotel) you can add a commercial spray to bring it up to code.
17) Can you meet unique specifications and/or customization requests?
Sometimes. Just ask us and we'll let you know if it can be done!
18) Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. We have done custom tapestries for people and businesses in many countries.
19) How much does shipping cost?
Small custom orders in the USA will ship for free. Large orders and international orders may be subject to actual shipping costs. Please inquire for a quote.
20) How soon will my order ship?
Typically within 2-6 weeks. Large orders may require a few additional weeks. Let us know if you have a deadline and we will work to meet it.
21) How do you ship?
Typically via FedEx to most addresses in the USA. Large or international orders may ship differently, depending on the situation.
22) Will I get a tracking number?
Yes. Once your order ships we will email a tracking number.
23) Will I pay customs/duty fees on International shipments?
Most likely. If so, and how much is not up to us, but up to each country. We will put the true value you paid for the goods on the Commercial Invoice.
24) Will I pay tax?
Only orders shipped to consumers in California will pay tax. (8.5% as of 2019)
25) What is your return policy?
Custom orders are not returnable. Thus, our normal return policy is void for custom orders.
26) Is the rod included?
No. Rods and tassels are sold separately.

27) How do I maintain and clean a tapestry?
Once mounted on a wall, your tapestry should require very little maintenance. Vacuum your tapestry once or twice a year with your vacuum cleaner's upholstery attachment to remove dust.
